Poems – Elizabeth Bishop (Second Hand)
Poems by Elizabeth Bishop is a definitive collection from one of the most important and respected voices in twentieth-century American poetry. Celebrated for her precision, clarity, and emotional restraint, Bishop’s work explores geography, memory, solitude, and the quiet complexities of human experience.
Her poems often begin with careful observation of landscapes and everyday objects—drawing inspiration from places such as New England, Nova Scotia, Florida, and Brazil—before moving inward to examine deeper questions of love, loss, control, and perception.
This edition brings together all the poems Bishop personally saw into print, along with selected unfinished and posthumously published works, offering readers a complete and enduring view of her poetic legacy.
