White Willow Bark (Salix Alba)
Properties:
- Analgesic
- Anti-inflammatory
- Tonic
Traditional Uses:
- Relieves pain and inflammation, known as nature's aspirin
- Effective for rheumatism, osteoarthritis, and arthritis
- Reduces period pains and backache
- Acts as an aspirin replacement without causing stomach irritation
- Reduces high temperature
- General painkiller for headaches and toothaches
- Used for migraines, often in combination with feverfew, improving frequency, intensity, and duration of attacks
Directions for Use:
- Decoction: Pour 1 cup of boiling water onto 1 teaspoon of dried bark. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Steep for a while, then strain. Drink three times per day.
Safety Precautions:
- Do not use if pregnant or lactating
- May interfere with the absorption of iron and other minerals when taken internally
- Do not use if allergic to aspirin
- Consult with a medical practitioner before use
